Stampede Breaks Out at Varsity Cheerleading Event

A stampede broke out at a cheerleading competition in Dallas, TX on Saturday, March 1, 2025. Attendees of the National Cheerleaders Association All-Star National Championship fled from the venue where the competition was taking place after some attendees heard gunshots. While the investigation is ongoing, it appears that the convention center and the event producer, Varsity Brands, did not have adequate security or an appropriate evacuation plan in place. It is possible that a lack of planning and negligent security at the event led to the catastrophe, where multiple people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Countless others are dealing with the trauma of fearing for their lives and losing contact with their children, parents, and coaches during a crisis in addition to the myriad of physical injuries sustained during the stampede.
