Before attending law school, Katie Miles worked as a high school teacher in rural Missouri teaching business courses, personal finance, and accounting. After teaching for a year, Katie decided to pursue law school and attended the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law. While attending the University of Missouri, Katie was an active member and editorial board member on the Journal of Dispute Resolution. Katie also completed research under Professor Rachel J. Wechsler with a focus on Human Trafficking Courts and Restorative Justice. She also served as a Teaching Assistant at the Trulaske College of Business for an Introduction to Business Law course. She also competed in various intraschool events and was the runner-up in the Client Interviewing and Counseling competition. In addition to her studies, Katie interned at the Missouri 15th Judicial Circuit and Paul LLP where she gained legal research and advocacy skills.
In her free time, Katie enjoys reading, exploring Kansas City, spending time outdoors, and spending quality time with her husband and cat.
